Barcelona, Real Madrid & Chelsea must wait for transfer target Jovic - Eintracht Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt’s sporting director Fredi Bobic has cooled speculation surrounding star striker Luka Jovic who is currently being touted with a departure this summer.

Jovic has scored 21 goals in 32 appearances this season in all competitions, and is currently the joint-top scorer in the German top flight with a tally of 15 alongside Robert Lewandowski.

Goal understands Barcelona are the frontrunners to sign the 21-year-old this summer, but Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also reported to be interested.

Manchester City are also the latest club to be keen on signing the Serbia international at the end of the season, with sources telling Goal that the reigning Premier League champions are monitoring his development.

The striker is currently on a two-year loan from Benfica and Frankfurt are hoping to trigger a clause to sign him outright for €6 million (£5.3m/$6.8m) before selling him on again for €60m (£52m/$68m).

Despite the interest from a host of elite European sides, his current club have played down speculation by insisting they are focusing on the current season.

"He's developing, he's great, he's scoring a lot of goals," Bobic told Sky Sport. "What do I know? We'll see about that, but nothing in February, and now in March, because even the big clubs have to look first.

"Will they be league champions? Do they play Champions League? It will be decided much later when they've made big offers.

"I'm not worried. First of all, let's see if we can achieve something this season, that's the most important thing.”

Bundesliga rivals Bayern are also believed to be interested in signing Jovic this summer, but Bobic suggested the Bavarian club have made no contract regarding a potential deal.

“I do not know,” he added. “I do not know what's going on behind my back, I can only say that officially there's been no contact [between Bayern and Frankfurt]."

Jovic is a product of Red Star Belgrade's youth academy, leaving the club for Benfica back in 2016. He only made four appearances for the Portuguese side's first team before joining Frankfurt on loan in 2017.

Eintracht Frankfurt are fifth in the Bundesliga with 10 games to go, well behind league leaders Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich but within five points of RB Leipzig and Borussia Monchengladbach.
