Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has returned to Borussia Dortmund’s squad ahead of the Champions League match against Tottenham Hotspur.
Dortmund had suspended the striker for the Bundesliga game on Friday against VfB Stuttgart after he arrived too late for the final training session before the match.
Reports also claimed he had arranged an unauthorised filming shoot in the cabin tract of the training centre, but Aubameyang was baffled by the decision to suspend him.
In his absence, Dortmund lost 2-1 to Stuttgart, with Andre Schurrle disappointing as a sole striker, but Aubameyang will be back to face Spurs on Tuesday.
According to Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc, Aubameyang showed an appropriate reaction to his suspension, telling Kicker: “He trained well on Friday and Saturday.”
After a great start to the season with eight goals in the first eight Bundesliga games, Aubameyang has lost his form recently and has not scored since October 14.
Meanwhile, BVB have slipped in the table from first to fifth place and, apart from a cup win against third league team 1. FC Magdeburg, they have failed to win a game since the end of September.
BVB must win their Champions League game on Tuesday against Tottenham to maintain their minimal hopes of reaching the round of last 16.
With Spurs already through, Dortmund must catch Real Madrid, who sit five points ahead and play in Cyprus against APOEL Nicosia.
