According to De Marco, the 29-year-old's poor challenges on Fiorentina starlet Federico Chiesa could have led to an early shower but referee Paolo Mazzoleni was lenient with his bookings.
“Kwadwo Asamoah should have been sent off against Fiorentina," De Marco said, as quoted by Sempreinter.com.
"This was the only real refereeing error in Inter-Fiorentina. VAR still does not have the power to intervene on these occasions but I hope it will be given the possibility to do so in the future," he added.
De Marco also insisted that the Italian Referees' Association boss Nicola Rizzoli must clarify how the VAR works after Inter were awarded a controversial penalty which was converted by Mauro Icardi.
“We need to clarify what constitutes a handball in the box. Nicola Rizzoli will have to work a lot on this and it must be considered to lend a hand there is also technology, if it didn't exist we would always be arguing about when it is a penalty and when it is not,” he said.
Asamoah is expected to maintain his place in Inter's setup when they host Cagliari on Saturday.
