Arsenal, Chelsea and any other suitors of Leon Bailey have been warned off the highly rated winger by Bayer Leverkusen.

The 20-year-old forward only completed a move to Germany in January, having first caught the eye in Belgium with Genk.

Manchester United were reported to be among those keen on doing a deal at that stage, and a number of other Premier League sides have since been alerted to Bailey’s potential.

Leverkusen, though, have no intention of parting with a prized asset and are prepared to resist any bids which may be tabled in the winter transfer window.

Rudi Voller, the Bundesliga club’s sporting director, told reporters on the Bailey exit talk: “We have proven many times that we can say ‘no’.

“We are very relaxed.”

Bailey has been a key figure for Leverkusen this season, with his contribution to the collective cause helping to bring him to the attention of Europe’s leading clubs once again.

He has found the target six times in the Bundesliga, while providing a further four assists.

Having only turned 20 in August, there is also still plenty of potential in him still to be unlocked.

Leverkusen, though, invested €20 million in his talent when acquiring him from Genk and tied him to a five-year contract which is due to run through to the summer of 2022.
