Armenian club Banants announce deal with Ghanaian striker Nath Asamoah

The former Ghana Premier League topscorer has joined the Armenian club from Ghana Premier defending champions

Aduana Stars former striker Nathaniel Asamoah has joined Armenian top-flight FC Banants in a one-year deal with an option to extend it for an additional year, the two clubs have confirmed.

The 28-years-old mutually parted ways with the Ghana Premier League champions last week following the expiration of his contract.

Following the arrival of new coach Kenichi Yastuhashi, Asamoah fell down the pecking order behind new captain Yahaya Mohammed, Bright Adjei and Derrick Sasraku as the Fire Club participate in the Caf Confederation Cup group stage.

"Nathaniel Asamoah has joined us and will be at the club for one season with an option to extend his contract," a club's statement read.

"We wish him a successful stay and hope to feel his impact in the team in our bid to win titles and set records," the statement added.

Asamoah, who previously represented local giants Asante Kotoko and won the goal king in 2009, also had a short stint with Serbian side Red Star Belgrade.

He has become the third Ghanaian player at Banants after midfielders Edward Kpodo and Kwasi Sibo.
