Niger Tornadoes' Andrew Ikefe says he is hoping to make his return to the team when they face Plateau United at the Bako Kontagora Stadium.

Ikefe had suffered a knee injury in a 2-1 home loss to Heartland on February 7, but has returned to full training earlier on Tuesday, and is now eager to reclaim his starting place.

With the Ikon Allah boys remaining unbeaten in two-game, the former Katsina United man believes the team has what it takes to contend for silverware despite their poor start.

"I am fit now and got back to training on Tuesday and I think I am ready to play again," Ikefe told Goal.

"The last few weeks have been tough not getting to do what I know how to do best due to injury and It has denied me the chance to help my team on the pitch.

"It is not a good time for any player to be injured but it is part of the game and nothing one can do when such situation comes. I feel great getting back to training once again.

"I wanted to be in the best possible shape and I’m very happy I’m back on my feet. I hope to be back to the starting team this weekend if the coach considers me for selection.

"I am happy with the new form and understanding between us. Everyone is eager to play and give my very best. I must commend the fans for standing behind the team.

"I believe we can still achieve great things this season if we remain united as a team and focused on turning things around. I believe in myself and my mates that can make a difference."

Having secured a draw at El Kanemi Warriors, Niger Tornadoes will anticipate stunning the title holders Plateau United to move up Nigeria's topflight log on Sunday.
