AFC World Cup Qualifiers: Omar Abdulrahman confident ahead of Thailand clash

UAE national team star Omar Abdulrahman is confident ahead of the team's 2018 World Cup qualifying match against Thailand.

The Al Ain playmaker claims the team is working well under the program set by new head coach Edgardo Bauza. stressing that the relationship between the players and coach is good.  

Despite UAE's dire situation in their group, needing to win all of their remaining games, the midfielder is optimistic about the game against Thailand.

"The national team still has a chance and we are playing in order to maintain this opportunity and increase our chances of qualifying," he said.

"Most of the teams in Group B are still fighting for the qualification spots. I am confident that if we play the way we are capable of playing, we will prosper." 

If there is any hope for UAE in catching Australia, who are seven points ahead in third place with an additional game played, they will have to win on Tuesday.

However, the UAE attack was silent against Australia and Japan in their last two outings, scoring no goals across 180 minutes. Similarly, Thailand were also quiet in their last two encounters, but conceded seven goals to the group’s best, Saudi Arabia and Japan.
