Commentary

Thanks for joining our commentary today. Until next time, goodbye.
Ireland are next in World Cup qualifying action against Serbia on Tuesday on home soil, while Azerbaijan are also in action on the same day against Portugal at home.
Shane Duffy's late header salvaged a point for the Republic of Ireland in their World Cup qualifying clash against Azerbaijan at the Aviva Stadium. The visitors took the lead in added time in the first half as Emin Mahmudov was afforded space and time before curling a right-footed effort into the top-left corner. Ireland pressed in the second half and were rewarded when Duffy rose home three minutes from time to score the equaliser. However, their first win of qualifying evaded them as they were unable to conjure a winner in added time.

Azerbaijan come into the game without any pressure, which could play into their hands.
Ireland were dealt a bitter blow in their contest against Portugal last time out. They appeared to be on their way to a famous win, only to be halted by Cristiano Ronaldo. The Manchester United fired home two late goals to snatch the three points for the Selecao, breaking Ali Daei's record for the highest scoring international player in the process.
