Bandari moved top of the Kenyan Premier League table after forcing a 1-0 win over Kariobangi Sharks on Saturday.

William Wadri blew away a chance to give Bandari the lead from the spot but Yame Mwana, who won the penalty made a correction with a thumping header late in the second-half o help push the Dockers top of the standings with 28 points, three above Mathare United, who will have to play catch up on Sunday.

Keeper John Oyemba did well to keep the Sharks in the game after he denied Wadri from the spot, but Mwana forced a ball past the custodian in the second stanza to stretch Bandari’s unbeaten run to four games.

Shark started the game on a high note. Sydney Lokale was brought down inside the box, just four minutes into the game, but the referee was not interested even though TV replays showed that there was minimal contact from Bernard Odhiambo.

A dominant first-half display saw Kariobangi Sharks once again rattle Bandari, but goalkeeper Farouk Shikhalo put his body on the line and his defense did well to clear the danger.

Bandari blew a chance to take the lead in what could have been a turning point in the ninth minute when Mwana won a penalty, but Wadri’s casually taken spot-kick was saved by Oyemba, who went on the right side to make a save.

Sharks got a dangerous free-kick just at the edge of the 18-yard box and Patilla Omotto forced a nice curve, but he was denied by a mean post with Shikhalo well beaten. Despite the constant attack by the ‘Big Fish’, the Dockers soaked in the pressure to force a scoreless result at the break.

Bandari received a major blow when substitute Wycliffe Ochomo was stretched off the pitch barely ten minutes after he had come on when he dislocated his shoulder from an aerial challenge inside Sharks’ box.

Dairus Msagha was brought in as coach Bernard Mwalala reshuffled his squad after the setback.
