  • Gabriel Jesus Manchester City 2018-19

No Sergio Aguero, no problem as Gabriel Jesus came up trumps

Manchester City’s top scorer missed out through injury and his replacement eased worries with a brave diving header with less than five minutes played.

Jesus’ movement for the goal was sublime and it was fitting his predatory instinct resulted in his 18th goal of the campaign to send the Citizens into the 2019 FA Cup final.
  • Kevin De Bruyne Manchester City

Kevin De Bruyne assist was top drawer

While Jesus deserves praise for finishing with aplomb, De Bruyne’s pin-point cross was equally magnificent.

The awareness to spot the forward’s run was admirable and the ability to execute it was immaculate.

Having been stuck on a solitary assist for a while this season, the Belgian’s second assist of the campaign was well-timed.

  • Ilkay Gundogan Manchester City 2018-19

Ilkay Gundogan proved his worth in midfield

It was another game in which the German deputized for Fernandinho and performed commendably.

Even though he wasn’t as creative against the Seagulls as he’d been in recent games, he was defensively sound and aware to clear the ball away from danger on a couple of occasions.

The Germany international rarely lost his individual battles over the course of the game in what was a solid, if unspectacular, midfield performance.

  • Nicolas Otamendi Man City Brighton

Solid Nicolas Otamendi was in a class of his own

Saving the best for last, the imperious Argentine central defender was a colossus at the back for the entirety of the game at Wembley Stadium.

He made a glut of clearances to snuff out danger whenever it crept into City’s defensive territory and generally looked up for the battle on the day.

To further amplify his influence, it should be noted Otamendi won more duels than every other City defender combined.

    An unrivalled defensive performance!
