Zamalek send winger Shikabala on loan to Greeks Apollon Smyrni

The 32-year-old Egypt international winger has struggled to cement his place at Zamalek and spent last season in Saudi Arabia on loan at Al-Raed

Zamalek have sent star winger Mahmoud "Shikabala" Abdel-Razek out on a season loan to Greek Super League side Apollon Smyrni.

Since his return to Zamalek in 2015, Shikabala has struggled to cement his position in the team, resulting in loan spells at rivals Ismaily, Saudi side Al-Raed and now Apollon Smyrni.

“The board headed by Mortada Mansour has already signed the contract of Shikabala’s loan deal to Apollon for one year,” announced Zamalek in a statement on their official website.

As he prepares to join up with his new Apollon Smyrni teammates, Shikabala is expected to first extend his contract with Zamalek which was due to expire in 2020.

The move to Apollon Smyrni wil see the winger return to Greece where he had a stint with PAOK in the 2005/6 season.

After watching all Egypt’s 2018 World Cup matches from the bench in Russia, Shikabala’s future with the Pharaohs doesn't look promising.
