Why Rodolfo Zapata did not travel with AFC Leopards to Tanzania

AFC Leopards will take on Simba SC and Azam FC in friendly matches set for Tanzania.

The Tanzanian outfits are using the match to shape up and try some players with an aim of making the team better for their season that has just started.

Ingwe, in the meantime, are using the match to shape their 'fringe' players ahead of the FKF Shield semi-finals; in case the seven key players do not recover from their injuries on time.

Head coach Rodolfo Zapata is however, in the country and has explained to Goal why he is not with the team.

“I could not travel with the team, had renewed my passport but it did not come on time.

“Definitely I could have wanted to be with the team but I believe Tom Juma and Mathew Ottomax will do a good job. They are experienced and have handled the team before.”

AFC Leopards are targeting a top-two finish and a Shield Cup this season.
