The draw for the Caf Champions League quarter-finals will take place on March 20, with events scheduled to get started at 17h00 GMT (7pm SA Time).

Caf headquarters in Cairo, Egypt is the venue for the draw, which is expected to be attended by representatives of the clubs that are left in the competition.

Teams & how the draw works

Al Ahly

Winners of all the four groups will face teams that finished as runners-up, but here is the tricky part: teams that were in the same group (winners and runners-up) will not be pitted against each other.

This means that Sundowns will not draw Wydad Casablanca in the quarterfinals, while ES Tunis will avoid Horoya AC.

TP Mazembe will not be drawn against CS Constantine, but they can either face Sundowns, Horoya or Simba SC.

Lastly, Al Ahly cannot be drawn against Simba as the two teams were in Group D in the group stages.

Mamelodi Sundowns, who lifted the trophy in 2016, squandered a chance top Group A after going down 1-0 to Wydad Casablanca last weekend.

Pitso Mosimane's men went into the encounter already sure of their place in the quarter-finals, but they wanted to top the group in order to avoid the big guns in the last eight.

Wydad's win saw them leapfrog Sundowns to top Group A, and therefore will either face Horoya, Simba or Constantine of Algeria.

Al Ahly's 3-0 win over JS Saoura in one of the final matches of Group D saw them finish as group winners.

ES Tunis needed a late Adem Rejaibi goal to beat FC Platinum 2-1. The Tunisian giants finished as Group B winners with 14 points from six Caf Champions League matches.

Horoya did just enough to book their place into the quarterfinals with a 2-1 win over Orlando Pirates, who needed a win to join Sundowns in the next phase.

TP Mazembe sealed their top spot with a convincing 2-0 win over Constantine in Lubumbashi, but the result was also somehow enough for the Algerian outfit to progress.

Simba came from 1-0 down to beat AS Vita 2-1 to seal their qualification into the last eight against all odds.
