Gombe United's Garba relishes El Kanemi Warriors win

Gombe United coach Manu Garba says his side worked hard to earn a 2-0 win against El Kanemi Warriors at the Pantami Stadium on Sunday.

Second half goals from Sanni Abanni and Idris Bakare sealed the maximum points for the Savannah Scorpions to ease their relegation fears at the expense of Ladan Bosso's side.

And the former Golden Eaglets praised Abanni for justifying the confidence reposed in him with his opener and further assured the fans that they will return from Uyo with a good result.

"It was a tough game but above all, we got the three points which were the ultimate," Garba told Goal.

"Well, the lucky boy [Sanni Abanni] scored our winner against Abia Warriors coming off the bench to score and score the equalizer in our draw at Nasarawa United.

"So, I called him and gave him a starting place because he has scored in our last games. I gave him the confidence that he should focus and not get carried away by the crowd.

"Gladly, he scored the first goal of the match which was the most important goal was the first goal because we gave us more confident in the game.

"Before the second goal came, everyone was confident that the three points were already in our kitty.

"We have put the victory behind us and we are going to Akwa United to get a victory or at least return with a draw. We are hoping not to drop any point in our remaining matches."
