The 33-year-old hasn’t had the best of campaigns so far in Europe where he was sent-off in their opening match against Valencia and suspended for the subsequent game at home with Young Boys. He did play at Old Trafford a fortnight ago and provided an assist to Paulo Dybala’s winning goal.
“He will score (on Wednesday),” he said.
“He didn’t play the first match, he didn’t play the second, he played only one match. And he provided an assist. I mean, it’s not like he played many Champions League matches so far,” said Allegri.
Ronaldo is the leading top scorer in the competition and would be keen to score his first this season.
The Italian champions have made a perfect start to their campaign in Europa having won each of their opening three matches in Group H. Should they pick a point against Jose Mourinho’s team, they will book their place to the round of 16.
