The head coach of the People’s Elephant has warned his players that the game has not yet been won despite the goalless draw in Kigali

Enyimba’s Usman Abdallah has stressed that his message to his players has always centred on the need for them to exercise some restraints.

He said he told his wards to put the celebration on hold knowing that the trend in world football does not give much importance to where a game is played and that with the game ending goalless in the first leg both teams still have their destinies in their hands.

The tactician warned his players against playing to the gallery and has charged them to remain tactically disciplined throughout the duration of the game and not be in too much desperate in their bid to get the needed goals.

“My players know what is at stake because I have warned them against thinking that the game was a done deal after the goalless draw in the first leg,” Abdallah told Goal.

“In football, things can change so fast and this is what I have been telling my players on the need for them to stay focused and not ruin what we have suffered for. We played a goalless draw and what that means is that it is still very much open for us and our opponents. We need to focus on our own preparations.

“We also need to take our chances and try to be tactically disciplined from the beginning to the end. We want to do our utmost to pip Rayon Sports to the semi-final ticket and everyone must contribute his quota towards achieving that.”

The former Kano Pillars coach further expressed that he expects any of the 11 players picked to face Rayon Sports to give their best as he does not build his team around any particular player.

“We do not build Enyimba around anybody because what we have done is to play with a workable formation that will accommodate all interests,” he added.

“I expect the players that will be chosen to face Rayon Sports to be proud of the shirts they are putting on and give their best to ensure that Enyimba get to the semi-final.”
