After spending better part of last season in the sidelines, Tusker FC defender Eugene Asike is aiming at helping the team defend league title.

The former Sofapaka man was an instant hit for the brewers before his 2016 season was cut off by a knee injury. Asike turned out for the George 'Best' Nsimbe led side in the KPL Super Cup match against Gor Mahia but was unfortunate to lose by a solitary goal.

"Every player likes to be involved every now and then in all competitions and an injury is usually a nightmare. Finally I am back, and very happy indeed to be back on the pitch, playing for my team," Asike told Goal.

"I want to help the team successfully defend the silverware won last season and do even better this season."

Asike is expected to line-up for the brewers next weekend against Nzoia Sugar in the Kenyan Premier League.
