The “invincibles” Simba defeat Prison to close in on title

Goals from skipper John Bocco and Emmanuel Okwi helped Simba SC grab all three points against Tanzania Prison in a Vodacom Premier League match held at the Benjamini Mkapa National Stadium, Dar es Salaam.

The win has extended Simba's unbeaten record to 24 games this season and also increased the gap in points at the top of the table to 11 ahead of their arch rivals Yanga who have two games in hand.

Bocco acted fast to score the opening goal ten minutes before half time from a rebound after a Erasto Nyoni shot had hit the cross bar and Prison defenders delayed to clear the loose ball.

Prison almost levelled before the break through Mohamed Rashid who headed over the bar from a Salum Kimenya cross.

Simba’s Head Coach Pierre Lechantre deployed a three man defense looked comfortable from the start of the match and kept their opponents at bay the whole game.

The solitary strike stood for most of the game until the 80th when Bocco was fouled and the referee awarded a penalty which was easily dispatched by Okwi to take his tally to 19 for the season.
