Tanzania’s Mbwana Samatta brace seals eight-goal thriller for Genk

Tanzania international Mbwana Samatta scored a brace as Genk secured an emphatic 5-3 win over Antwerp in a Belgian First Division encounter.

Samatta opened scoring for the Blue-White eight minutes into the game as Leandro Trossard doubled the lead in the 16th minute.

Siebe Schrijvers made it three for the visitors in the 21st minute before Joeri Dequevy grabbed a goal for the Laszlo Bölöni’s men three minutes later.

He completed the first half brace in the 41st minute as it ended 4-1, which brings his tally to two goals in three league games this season.

After the restart, a costly mistake made Antwerp’s Dino Arslanagic put the ball inside his team’s net and increased the goal margin to four.

Second half substitute, Ghana’s William Owusu tried to get the Bosuilstadion outfit back into the game with a goal 17 minutes after his introduction in the 62nd minute.

Defender Dino Arslanagic later made amends for his own goal with a goal in the 81st minute but was not enough to for the Laszlo Bölöni’s men to get at least a point at home.

Antwerp visit Mechelen for their next league outing on August 19 while Genk welcome Sporting Charleroi to the Cristal Arena on August 19.
