Tabitha Chawinga hits 24th Damallsvenskan goal in Kvarnsveden loss

The Malawian increased her season's goal tally but her effort was not enough to help her side escape defeat against Malin Levenstad's ladies

Tabitha Chawinga netted her 24th goal of the season in Kvarnsveden's 3-1 defeat to second-placed Rosengard in a Damallsvenskan game at Ljungbergsplanen on Saturday.

The visiting side started the game on a bright note with Ebba Wieder scoring the opener in the 29th minute before adding the second for her club four minutes into the break.

In the second half, Sanne Troelsgaard made it 3-0 in the 71st minute for Malin Levenstad's ladies before Chawinga pulled one back three minutes to full time.

With the 21-year-old's 24th goal in 21 appearances for Jonas Bjorkgren's side, she has opened an 11-goal gap on the top of the Damallsvenskan scorer chart.

The Malawian will look to help her relegation-troubled side avoid the drop when they face Kristianstad in their final game of the season at Vilans IP on November 12.
