SuperSport United have confirmed exciting midfielder Jamie Webber as their first signing of the January transfer window, while Luke Le Roux has be recalled from his loan spell at Stellenbosch FC.

Webber, who was also on the books of the National First Division (NFD) side, was recently allowed to train with Matsatsantsa with an eye on impressing SuperSport coach Eric Tinkler.

He subsequently impressed during his time with the club, and it was previously reported that a deal was close to being finalised.

Nonetheless, the Tshwane-based outfit confirmed late on Friday night that the deal had indeed been finalised between SuperSport and Stellenbosch for the 19-year-old’s services, and that he will join SuperSport along with 17-year-old Le Roux, who has been recalled by the club from his loan.

SuperSport CEO Stanley Matthews was delighted to have signed the two youngsters.

“Luke and Jamie join our established youngsters like Teboho Mokoena and Sipho Mbule, along with new recruits such as Darren Smith and Dylan Stoffels. Fagrie Lakay was not getting the game time he needs and we decided to let him go out on loan but he is still in our plans and hopefully will get a chance at Ajax,” Matthews explains in a statement issued by the club.

“We have a host of young exciting players who can help take us forward to sustained future success,” he expressed.
