Stoke City’s Paul Lambert heaps praise on ‘first-class’ Mame Diouf

Stoke City manager Paul Lambert has lauded Mame Diouf for always being 'excellent' and 'first-class'.

Diouf who has scored six goals in 31 league appearances this campaign is only behind Xherdan Shaqiri [seven] in the club's scorers' chart.

And the Scottish gaffer has hailed the 30-year-old's impact in his squad and for always giving his best during training sessions and in matches.

“If you look at Mame’s games it’s clear that he gives you everything that he’s got,” Lambert told club website.

“His work ethic and the way he goes about things is excellent. It’s not just on a match day it’s at the training ground as well. The way he conducts himself is first class and he does everything for the right reasons; the level of his performances has been very, very good.

“He needs a little bit of help up there as well at certain times but I think his performances have been first class.

“He was a little bit of a cause for concern but he threw himself into it and I thought his game was excellent.

“He’s another one who is low maintenance, easy to work with. He’s a good guy but the thing for me is that he delivers for us. The proof is how he goes out on the pitch on a Saturday – you can be a great training park player but you’ve got to produce when it matters.”
