Stars honour Sunshine Stars' Sunday Abe in novelty game

An array of stars stepped out on the field of play in a match organized by Owena Whales skipper on Saturday

Kola Kalejaiye and Ajibola Otegbeye both shone in a friendly game in Akure on Saturday afternoon.

The game, organised by Sunshine Stars captain Sunday Abe and dubbed ‘Friends of Abe novelty match’ brought together stars including Tunde Adeniji, Kehinde Adedipe, Nzube Anaezemba, Thomas Adeshina and Ezekiel Boboye.

Emmanuel Fabiyi, Olumide Akinroyeje, Chris Okunnuwa and Raymond Abdulsalam were also part of the showpiece.

Adedipe scored an early goal in the first half after finding his way past his markers, before Kalejaiye equalised after Otegbeye was felled in the 18-yard box.

Kalejaiye sealed the victory for his side with a second-half effort in the game watched by more than 300 people at the Akure Township Stadium.

"Am happy with the success of Abe & Friends this year, the friendship and unity the game fostered again,” Abe said after the game.
