There will be free entry when Kenya takes on Ethiopia in the return leg of the Afcon Qualifier on Sunday.
Harambee Stars battled for a crucial away point in a 0-0 draw in Ethiopia on Wednesday, and with a just a win needed to seal a place in the 2019 continental showpiece, should Sierra Leone be kicked out of the ongoing qualifiers, the government is not taking any chances with the team.
As such, the Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa has scrapped all the gate charges and at the same time appealed to Kenyans to show a sense of patriotism by turning up in large numbers to cheer the team to victory at the 60, 000 sitter Kasarani Stadium.
“I wish to announce that entry to the stadium at Kasarani will be free of charge to allow Kenyans cheers their team to victory. It is important as patriotic Kenyans, we support our team unreservedly.
"The government has stepped up support for the team to ensure that Kenya qualifies for the Afcon 2019 championship. A win for Harambee Stars in this match will take the team to the brink of Kenya qualifying for Afcon 2019 in Cameroon," said Echesa in a statement obtained by Goal.
Kenya are top of Group F with four points, same as Ethiopia while Ghana and suspended Sierra Leone are third and fourth respectively, with three points each.
