Sofiane Hanni scores hat-trick as Standard Liege hold Anderlecht

Sofianne Hanni scored a hat-trick as Anderlecht were held to a 3-3 draw by Standard Liege in Sunday’s Belgian First Division A encounter.

The Algerian forward scored three first-half goals for the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium outfit in an encounter that saw DR Congo’s Christian Luyindama register a brace as both sides settled for a share of the spoils.

Orlando Sa got the hosts off the mark with his sixth-minute effort before Hanni started his goal spree in the 14th minute as both sides drew level.

Ten minutes later, Luyindama’s stunning bicycle kick restored Standard Liege's lead but Hanni’s quickfire goals in the 41st and 44th minutes ensured the Purple and White go into the break ahead.

After the restart, Luyindama converted a Rzvan Marin assist in the 64th minute to grab a point for Sa Pinto’s side who have won just two matches in their last 11 league outings.

Hanni, 27, has now scored eight goals for Anderlecht in 23 league appearances so far this campaign.

Anderlecht remain in the third spot of the Belgian top-flight table with 45 points from 24 games and they welcome Mechelen to the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium for their next league game on February 4.
