Gent's Sigurd Rosted anticipates ‘special’ match against Samuel Kalu

Gent defender Sigurd Roster is looking forward to a ‘special’ clash with Bordeaux’s Samuel Kalu when they face each other in Thursday’s Uefa Europa League qualifying encounter.

Having reached an agreement with the Girondins in August, Kalu signed a deal that would keep him at the French Ligue 1 side until 2023.

He was given a starting berth for the Matmut Atlantique outfit in their 2-1 loss to Toulouse in the club’s French top-flight fixture on Sunday.

However, Yves Vanderhaeghe’s charges will be aiming to capitalise on the home advantage with a victory in the first leg of the Europa League playoffs when they host their French contenders.

Roster has revealed how playing against his former teammate will look like and has also urged the club’s skipper to stop the Nigerian forward.

“Playing against Samuel Kalu will be special because we know him well. Nana [Asare] probably knows him even better. Let's hope he [Asare] can stop him [Kalu] tomorrow,” Rosted  quoted as saying on the club's tweeter handle.
