Premier League Betting: Jose Mourinho 17/20 to lose job before Theresa May

The race is on for Jose Mourinho and Theresa May as both aim to save their jobs in the coming weeks, with 888Sport unable to split them in the latest betting.

Both under-fire figures are 17/20 (1.85) in the market with regards to who will leave their position first, Mourinho as Manchester United manager and May as British Prime Minister.

The Red Devils are already 18 points back from Premier League leaders, and deadly rivals, City, as well as being eight points behind the top four after Wednesday’s eventful 2-2 draw with Arsenal.

United twice fought back from a goal down but were lucky to escape with a point after a series of good saves by David de Gea, leaving the Portuguese as 6/4 (2.50) favourite in the Premier League Sack Race market.

The 25 goals they have conceded is the sixth-most in the league and is just three fewer than they shipped in the whole of least season, with United letting their opponents score twice or more eight times this term.

Champions League group stage qualification is assured so Mourinho can focus on the league. A run of generally kind fixtures in Fulham (H), Liverpool (A), Cardiff (A), Huddersfield (H) and Bournemouth (H) means he may live to fight into 2019.

Theresa May, however, might not be so lucky. Her Brexit deal for the United Kingdom leaving the European Union is just 1/9 (1.11) to be rejected by parliament during next week’s vote, and support for the 62-year-old is dwindling constantly.

May, only the second female Prime Minister ever, lost a key vote earlier this week - with some rebellious Conservatives voting against her – which will allow Parliament to take control of Brexit in the event of her deal being voted against on December 11.

A vote of no confidence in the Prime Minister could take place if MPs vote to decline that package, which in turn could lead to her resigning her position or a General Election. 888Sport go 9/4 (3.25) that May is out of Downing Street during 2018.
