Team manager of Plateau United, Abel Iliya confirms that the Nigeria Professional Football League champions are in discussion with officials of the CHAN Eagles to work out another friendly encounter before they depart for Morocco.
The list of the 23 CHAN Eagles’ players was announced on Tuesday but they won’t be travelling to Morocco on Wednesday as initially anticipated and Iliya explains that a proposal for a contest between both teams has been submitted.
“Yes, there is a proposal like that (for the friendly tie with the CHAN Eagles) which has been submitted. It will be exciting to play against them again. We enjoyed the one we had with them that we played during the LMC Super Six Invitational Pre-Season Tournament,” Iliya told Goal.
“We are still expecting a reply from those in charge of the team to see if a friendly match can be arranged.”
Plateau United arrived Abuja on Tuesday for a closed camping exercise which the team’s coach, Kennedy Boboye has craved for throughout the pre-season while the CHAN Eagles are in the capital city for the final phase of the build-up to the African Nations Championship scheduled to hold between January 13 and February 4.
When both teams clashed in LMC Super 6 invitational tournament in Kano it ended goalless in an entertaining tie played at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
