PKNP secures stay in the Super League

Results elsewhere has ensured that PKNP FC will get another season at the top table of the Malaysian football after last year's promotion to MSL.

Johor Darul Ta'zim will not be the only one going into the Monday's Super League fixture all happy as PKNP will also be in a positive mood going into the match.

This as JDT's 4-0 over Kelantan meant that PKNP have secured another season in the top division as they are currently seven points ahead of both Negeri Sembilan and Kelantan, with both only having two more matches to be played.

It is an impressive feat from Abu Bakar Fadzim and his team who achieved back-to-back promotions, having played in the FAM League in the 2016 season.

Finishing second then, PKNP rose to the Premier League in 2017 and incredibly finished in third, just outside of promotion spots.

Yet, the change of structure at T-Team FC as well as the failure of Felda United to comply with club licensing rules meant that PKNP were given a spot in the 2018 Super League season.

Difficulties at the start of the season with import signings Keo Sokpheng and Yeon Gisung unable to shine make it a troubled start to the league campaign.

But PKNP started picking up wins at home against Kelantan, Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan and Terengganu paved the way for them to move up the table.

Coincidentally, the two away wins that the team have picked up on the road came against the two teams currently sitting in the relegation zone, recording 1-2 wins over both Kelatan and Negeri.

In total, the six wins and four draws gave PKNP 22 points and a place in the 2019 Malaysia Super League season.
