Obafemi Martins suffers injury in Shanghai Shenhua’s stalemate

Obafemi Martins was forced off as Shanghai Shenhua were held to a 2-2 draw by Kashima Antlers in Tuesday’s AFC Champions League.

Three days after bagging a hat-trick against Hebei China Fortune in the Chinese Super League, the Super Eagles forward could only last for 22 minutes at the Hongkou Stadium after being fouled by Yuma Suzuki.

Before coming off, Martins earned Wu Jingui’s side a penalty which was converted by Giovanni Moreno to put the hosts ahead.

Jianqing doubled their lead but goals from Yuma Suzuki and Leandro’s in the second half ensured the Chinese outfit succumbed to a share of the spoils.

Shanghai Shenhua sit at the bottom of their group with four points from five games. They visit third-placed Sydney FC for their next Champions League outing on April 17.
