'My expectation is very high', says Liverpool hat-trick hero Mohamed Salah

Following his five-star showing in Liverpool's rout of Bournemouth, Mohamed Salah insists he maintains a 'very high' expectation of himself.

On Saturday, Jurgen Klopp's defeated Eddie Howe's men 4-0 at Dean Court and Salah registered a treble to become the first Liverpool player to score a Premier League away hat-trick since Luis Suarez in March 2014.

After a surreal start on the Merseyside last season, the Egypt international has come in for criticisms for some below-par performances this campaign. But in recent times, he has shown the qualities that saw him emerge the sixth best player in the world, with Saturday's feat the latest.

The 26-year-old stated that he understands much is expected of him, just as he sets a high standard for himself.

"It's not a bad way at all [to get back amongst the goals]. Top of the table and scored three goals today, clean sheet. That's everything I can say today," Salah told Sky Sports after Bournemouth win.

"My expectation is very high. But I know everyone else's expectation for me is very high. As I said before, the most important thing, we are top of the table and we win each game.

On his favourite goal from the treble in the win over Bournemouth, the former Roma winger chose the last where he beat Steve Cook before rounding goalkeeper Asmir Begovic to wrap up a 4-0 victory for the Reds.

"The last one. I could say the last one was good. I was calm."

A kind gesture followed; refusing his well-deserved Man of the Match award, handing it to James Milner, who clocked 500 Premier League appearances on the afternoon.

"I have to congratulate him. It's an amazing career. He deserves it today. He's had an amazing career, so I hope we are going to win something together. But I will not accept."
