Mourinho or Pep? Rio Ferdinand reveals who he'd rather have as manager

Former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand gave a magnanimous answer when asked whether he'd rather be managed by Jose Mourinho or Pep Guardiola.

Ferdinand starred for over a decade at Old Trafford, appearing for United a total of 455 times before ending his career in 2015 at first club Queens Park Rangers.

That spell, almost entirely under the gaze of legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson, yielded six Premier League titles and a Champions League gong.

When asked which of the two bosses currently ruling the roost in Manchester he'd prefer to work with, however, Rio found it hard to answer.

"As a defender, Jose, because I'd be well protected, but if I was going there to commentate on my attacking players like I used to, Pep," he explained on The Clare Balding show.

But pressed to give a final answer, he admitted: "If we're in German, I'm going to go for Pep!"

Rio Ferdinand was speaking on the new series of the Clare Balding show. You can watch the full interview live on BT Sport 2 on Thursday night from 8pm UK.
