Orlando Pirates head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic cut a disappointed figure following their encounter with Bidvest Wits on Wednesday.

The Soweto giants dominated most of their Premier Soccer League (PSL) match which was played at the iconic Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg.

Wits midfielder Haashim Domingo’s cross was turned home by Pirates defender Gladwin Shitolo to hand the visitors a 1-0 victory.

“I’m very disappointed with the result. But the approach that we had with patient build-ups in order to tire the opponent, we had been a dominant side and created chances,” the Serbian told SuperSport TV.

“We dominated in all statistical aspects but in that one aspect that counts we conceded a goal from an accidental situation. This is what cost us. Accidents happen in football.

This was the Buccaneers’ second successive defeat in all competitions having lost to SuperSport United in the 2018 MTN8 Cup quarter-final match in Johannesburg last weekend.

“We need to accept it and see if we can be much more effective going forward. From the chances that we created - we could have easily won the game. However, with one moment of lapse in concentration, this is how it is in football, it cost us to lose the match.”

Micho admitted that Bucs’ new finishing coach Stephane Adam will be under pressure after another poor display in front of goal.

“Absolutely. There is no magic stick that you press the button and things work immediately. We need to improve very much in front of goal,” he concluded.

The defeat left the Buccaneers on sixth place on the league standings having accumulated four points from three matches.

Pirates will travel to the Free State Stadium where they are scheduled to take on Bloemfontein Celtic in a league game on Sunday.
