Jose Mourinho has made seven changes after insisting at the weekend that FA Cup places are up for grabs

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has dropped both Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez for Wednesday's Premier League clash against Bournemouth.

The Portuguese warned after the 1-0 home loss to West Brom on Sunday that he would make wholesale changes for the trip to the south coast and he has been as good as his word, with places up for grabs for Saturday's FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham.

Lukaku sits out a league start for only the second time all season, while Nemanja Matic's 100 per cent appearance record in the first XI has gone. Sanchez is another dropped to the bench, while Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young, Juan Mata and Victor Lindelof also miss out.

Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera retain their places despite being withdrawn early on Sunday, while Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are high-profile returnees.

Elsewhere, Matteo Darmian makes his first league start since the trip to Liverpool in October and Luke Shaw is back at left-back. Marouane Fellaini, Jesse Lingard and Phil Jones all play too.

United need five points from their remaining five games to confirm their place in the Champions League next season.

Bournemouth: Begovic; Francis, S. Cook, Ake, Daniels; Fraser, L. Cook, Surman, Ibe; King; Wilson.
