The New Zealand international says he always finds the back of the net against his former teammates and hopes to do so on Sunday in their first Premier Soccer League (PSL) meeting of the season.
“I spent quite a lot of time on the bench and not getting game time but for me it was about mental preparation and keeping myself in the right space because at some stage I was going to get another opportunity,” Brockie said as quoted by IOL.
'The Sniper' netted his first goal for the Brazilians in their 3-1 win over Free State Stars in the league earlier this month and warns his former club that his confidence is back.
“When I found out that I was going to play against Free State Stars, I looked forward going into that game. I finally broke the duck, and now the confidence is back,” he continued.
Moreover, Brockie also scored a brilliant volley on Wednesday when they faced Leones Vegetarianos in the Caf Champions League preliminary stage match as they bagged a 2-1 win.
Having arrived in the country in 2015 and spent three seasons with SuperSport before joining the reigning PSL champions, Brockie said the upcoming derby will be one of the most exciting games in the country.
“It’s going to be nice coming against my former team. I do have a habit of scoring against my former teams and especially now that I have found the net a couple of times, it will be one thing that I’ll be less worried of,” he said.
“Hopefully I’ll score against SuperSport. It’s important that we get wins in these league games,” said Brockie.
Moreover, Brockie also heaped praise on defender Jeremy Brockie who made his official debut for the Chloorkop side in Equatorial Guinea following a lengthy injury lay off.
“Riva was on his first game for the club and he looked like he’s been here and playing for years,” Brockie praised.
Under the guidance of coach Kaitano Tembo, the 2017 Caf Confederation Cup finalists will hope to end their nine match winless run against coach Pitso Mosimane's men.
A look at the log standings, SuperSport are fourth on the log table with 19 points, a point and a spot above their neighbours from 11 matches whilst Sundowns have played 10 so far.
