Leicester determined to keep Mahrez 


Leicester City are committed to keeping Riyad Mahrez at the club beyond the January transfer window, according to manager Claude Puel.

The Algeria international, a key member of the Foxes' title-winning side of 2015-16, has been in a rich vein of form recently, directly contributing to eight goals - five goals, three assists - in his last 10 Premier League appearances.

Dortmund sign Akanji

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed the signing of reported Manchester United and Liverpool target Manuel Akanji from Basel.

The two Premier League giants were said to be interested in the services of the 22-year-old, but Dortmund have beaten both to the prize in a deal thought to be worth in the region of €22 million.

Akanji, a Switzerland international centre-half, has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal at Signal Iduna Park.

Keita not joining Liverpool in January

Liverpool will not be completing the £57 million signing of Naby Keita until the summer, RB Leipzig have announced, with a January switch ruled out.

Having spent much of the last transfer window pursuing a deal for the Guinea international, an agreement was eventually reached for the midfielder to move ahead of the 2018-19 season.

The Reds had hoped to use some of the money recouped from the sale of Coutinho to bring Keita's arrival at Anfield forward, but the player's current club will not sanction an early switch.

Liverpool are willing to pay €30 million to sign Sporting Lisbon winger Gelson Martins, reports Correio da Manha.

Martins’s release clause stands at €60m, but Liverpool are only prepared to offer about half that sum as the Premier League club search for a replacement for Philippe Coutinho.

The 22-year-old has repeatedly been linked with a move to Anfield and Martins can expect to earn five times more than his current salary, if a deal is done.
