Libya won’t be strangers to Nigeria - William Troost-Ekong

Nigeria defender William Troost-Ekong has asserted that the Mediterranean Knights of Libya won’t be total strangers to them when they clash on Saturday in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Uyo.

Ekong said that the match tapes of the Libyan team have supplied to them sufficient information on their foes ahead of the first leg of their doubleheader at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.

“We have spent some of our time watching the previous games of Libya and we still hope to review some of the games more before Saturday,” Ekong told media.

“We will prepare for the game the same way we did for the World Cup matches in Russia. We will have to do our best. It is not a game that we have to take lightly.  We have to be very focused because we have a team that can compete against any opposition.”

The Eagles will be seeking an outright victory against Libya to improve their chances of qualifying for the first Afcon competition in three attempts having failed to feature in the last two editions held in 2015 and 2017 since they won the tournament in 2013.

They are presently third with three points in Group E behind Libya and South Africa with four points apiece after two games.
