The third round of action in Spain’s La Liga – the top division in the country’s footballing pyramid – kicks off this coming Friday evening (31 August). The usual suspects, Barcelona and Real Madrid, have both made a 100 per cent start to the new campaign, and their duopoly at the top of the table shows little sign of abating just yet.

Getting the ball rolling

First things first, swing by the Oddsshark website, procure your favourite betting agency and get your own account sorted out with a username and password. As a new customer and with the new La Liga season already up and running, there should be a whole host of promotions and special offers for you to enjoy.

Where should I be investing my money?

On the Friday evening, Eibar and Real Sociedad are set to meet in a Basque derby at the Ipurua Municipal Stadium. Hosts Eibar sit next to bottom having lost both their games so far, but form will count for little in this one – with a derby game, anything can happen.

Eibar managed a top half finish last season but their start this term has been desperately disappointing. Defeats to Huesca and Getafe have left them without a point to date and piles on the pressure ahead of a visit from their fiercest rivals.

By way of comparison, Real Sociedad have made an encouraging start to the new season, picking up four points from their opening two encounters. First they beat Villarreal 2-1 before taking a point in a 2-2 draw away to Leganes last time out.

And despite being away from home, it is Real Sociedad who come into this game as the favourites to make it two wins from three. The visitors are at 2.50 to take all three points, while Eibar re only slightly higher t 2.87 to get their first points on the board, according to the Oddsshark site.

Real are in better form however, and a 2-1 win for the away team is priced at 10.00, offering a ten-fold return on any investment. In addition, you could more than double your money by backing over 2.5 goals in the game at 2.10, while both teams to score is at 1.90 – as is a “no” to that particular outcome.

Real looking to maintain 100 per cent start to season

Real Madrid may have won three Champions League titles in a row, but they were desperately off the pace in the domestic title chase last season. Los Blancos could only muster a third place finish, behind great rivals Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, and manager Zinedine Zidane has since left the club.

The coach has been replaced by former Spain boss Julen Lopetegui, and he has made an excellent start to life at the European champions. Real sit top after two rounds, with six points from two games and six goals scored – no one is missing Cristiano Ronaldo just yet.

This coming Saturday, Real host a Leganes outfit who are yet to record a win this season. While nothing can be taken for granted this is precisely the kind of game the club from the capital need to be winning – in convincing fashion – if they are to wrest the league crown out of Barcelona’s grasp.

And Real come into the match as clear favourites to make it three wins in as many games. The home side are at just 1.14 to take the points, with visitors Leganes all the way out at 17.00 – a comprehensive, 3-0 win is priced at 6.00, meaning that a US$5 bet would lead to a US$30 pay out.

Betis and Sevilla to meet in derby thriller

The Seville derby will be one of the highlights of the weekend in La Liga, with Real Betis hosting Sevilla. Betis are in desperate need of three points and have just one point to their name so far, while Sevilla have made an impressive start to the new season and have four points in the bank.

Betis finished sixth last season but simply do not look equipped to match that achievement. Despite losing some key players over the summer transfer window, Sevilla come into this match as slight favourites to take all three points at a price of 2.37.

Betis are only slightly higher at 2.90, but their technical quality does not look to be at Sevilla’s level. A 2-1 win for the visitors is priced at 9.50, offering close to a ten-fold return on any investment.
