The Porcupine Warriors boss insists he is optimistic that his charges will win the pre-season title

Asante Kotoko manager Steve Polack has revealed that they have set their sights on winning the 2018 Ghalca G8 tournament.

The Porcupine Warriors defeated Techiman Eleven Wonders 1-0 in the first game of Group A thanks to Obed Owusu's first-half penalty.

The Englishman won the trophy with Berekum Chelsea four years ago and wants to lift it again to build his side's confidence ahead of their participation in the Caf Confederations Cup as they play Congolese side CARA in February.

“We have to take one game at time. I won this tournament before and it’s a trophy, and as coach you would like to win any trophy available," Polack said.

"As I've said before, we have to take one game at a time and hopefully we can get through the group stages to the semifinals. Winning the trophy is definitely our target as we hope to build our confidence ahead of the Caf Confederations Cup," he added.

Kotoko will play Dreams FC on Wednesday before they take on defending champions Aduana Stars in the final group game.
