Kelvin Itoya: Enugu Rangers will survive Defence Force onslaught

Kevin Itoya has reiterated the desire of Enugu Rangers to protect their first-leg advantage when they trade tackles with Defence Force on Wednesday in the Caf Confederation Cup preliminary round second leg fixture in Addis Ababa.

Godwin Aguda’s second-half double separated both teams at the end of the first leg in Enugu last week and Itoya who is expected to play a key role in Addis Ababa disclosed that they have perfected their preparations for the return leg tie and are only expecting a positive outcome.

“We left Enugu full of hope that we can survive the onslaught of our opponents on Wednesday,” Itoya told Goal.

“We know that Defence Force won’t just wait for us to overrun them once again. They will come out fighting as they did in Enugu. We have worked on the mistakes noticed before we departed from Enugu and we are certain that we are going to give a good account of ourselves in Addis Ababa.

“We watched the game all over and we were able to realize what we must do better to be able to give a good account of ourselves throughout the course of the 90 minutes. It is a war and we are ready for the war to ensure that Defence Force are eliminated by us.”

It was the introduction of Itoya and Ajani Ibrahim that sparked off the revival that led to the two goals scored by the Flying Antelopes in the second half of the first leg clash.
