Kedah's task to reach the 2018 Malaysia Cup quarter final will not be helped by the unavailability of striker Paulo Rangel in the final two matches of Group C.
The Brazilian was sent off in the Super League encounter which Kedah lost 1-2 against Johor Darul Ta'zim on July 13 at Darul Aman Stadium.
Rangel has already served an automatic suspension in the immediate match after that which was against Terengganu FC on July 17 and now has been slapped with a further two-match ban.
The red card offence saw Rangel clattering into Farizal Marlias and now the Disciplinary Board of Football Association of Malaysia have deemed his actions worthy of another 180 minutes on the sidelines.
Thus Rangel will now miss out on Kedah's final two Malaysia Cup matches against coincidentally JDT at home on August 31 as well as the away match against Kelantan on September 16.
With Kedah now in third spot in the group, trailing behind both MISC-MIFA and JDT, there's a real chance that fans of The Red Eagles may have seen the last Rangel action this season if Kedah doesn't go through the group.
