Kano Pillars receive seven million naira for match bonuses

Kano Pillars have offset all the entitlements owed the players after the release of the seven million naira for the balance of their match bonuses ahead of their Federation Cup final fixture with Enugu Rangers in Asaba, Delta State on October 24.

The allowance which was paid on Thursday was part of the Kano State Deputy Governor, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna pledged would be paid to the players when he visited the training session of the team on Tuesday earlier this week at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.

In a press release from the club media, the Deputy Governor charged the players and the officials to focus their attention on winning the Federation Cup when they face the Flying Antelopes in Asaba, Delta State on Wednesday.

“The Kano State Government want the club to know that we are solidly behind you and what we have released is just a token of the promise we made to the team that they won’t be owed,” Gawuna told the club media.

“We expect you to go to Asaba and win the competition and expect more surprises. We in Kano State take the welfare of our people seriously and the release of the match bonuses is just a way to ginger the players to go and do their best to win the competition for the state.”

Kano Pillars left for Benin City for the concluding part of their preparations for the Federation Cup final in the early hours of Friday where they are billed to have a closed camping exercise ahead of the crunch tie with the Flying Antelopes on October 24.

Pillars are seeking the first diadem since 2014 when they won their fourth Nigeria Professional Football League title.
