John Ogu disappointed after Hapoel Be’er Sheva Champions League exit

John Ogu is gutted to miss a chance of playing in the Uefa Champions League group stage this season following their 1-0 defeat to Maribor at the People's Garden.

A first half strike by Mitja Viler in the 15th minute condemned the Turner Stadium outfit to life in the Europa League.

Having won the first leg of the encounter 2-1 at the Turner Stadium, the Camels crashed out based on away goals after a 2-2 aggregate scoreline on Tuesday evening.

Ogu disclosed his disappointment of not achieving his dream of playing in the Champions League and remains upbeat of featuring in the tournament someday as the team shifts focus to the Isreali Premier League.

“Every disappointment they say is a Blessing.I just want to say a big thank you to our fans really. It hurt us the players to have not been able to achieve that which we all dreamt,” Ogu wrote on Instagram.

“But I know for sure one day we will get there. Our biggest focus now is the Championship.”
