Jimoh Oni praises Abia Warriors tour of Delta State

Abia Warriors’ Jimoh Oni has hinted that they have benefitted from their trip to Delta State where they played two friendly matches.

The Umuahia side started their visit to Warri on a good note beating Delta Stars 3-1 at the Warri Township Stadium on Tuesday evening with Ndifreke Effiong’s double and Oni wreaking havoc but they were defeated 2-1 by J Atete FC at the same stadium on Wednesday morning.

Oni made it two goals from two matches when he netted their consolatory goal against the Nigeria National League campaigners and he has disclosed that the experience they garnered from their road trip will help equip them ahead of the resumption of the league.

He revealed that the club management did a good job arranging two quality friendly matches for them and he noted that they do not have any reason to disappoint when the league is restarted at moment soon.

“We just finished playing our second friendly game against J Atete and we narrowly lost to them 2-1,” Oni told Goal.

“We had earlier beaten Delta Stars 3-1 on Tuesday but so many things set in including fatigue in our game with J Atete. We gave a good account of ourselves and were only unfortunate to lose. The two games exposed us to what we must do to correct our lapses.

“It is not easy to play two games in two days. It wasn’t about the result but to learn what we must do to improve. We have seen our mistakes and we must go back home to correct them.”
