Istanbul Basaksehir sign Egypt’s Karim Hafez on loan

Turkish Super Lig side Istanbul Basaksehir have signed Karim Hafez on loan from Egyptian outfit Wadi Degla with an option to make the deal permanent.

The left-back spent the last two seasons on loan with French Ligue 2 side Lens and made 46 appearances across all competitions before his departure.

On Wednesday, Basaksehir announced the capture of the youngster after concluding negotiations with him and Wadi Degla.

“After our negotiations with Karim Hafez and his club Wadi Degla, the Egyptian footballer was leased for one year with the purchase option," read a statement from club website.

“Karim Hafez, who played in Lens from last season's 2nd Division of France, is pleased to join Istanbul Basaksehir and we wish him a successful season.”

Hafez who has six caps for the Pharaohs will team up with Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor, Ghana’s Joseph Attamah and Cameroon defender Aurelien Chedjou.

The left-back could make his first appearance for Basaksehir when they clash with BB Erzurumspor in a league game on Sunday.
