Former Ghana international Awudu Issaka believes the Black Starlets will be able to lift the 2017 Fifa U-17 World Cup ongoing in India.

Paa Kwesi Fabin's side topped Group A with six points and defeated Niger 2-0 in the round of 16 to set up a date with Mali in a repeat of the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations final in May where they lost 1-0.

The game will be played on Saturday in Guwahati.

“We have all seen the fighting spirit of these young boys and the determination in their play, I will commend them for their effort so far especially against Niger where they were able to withstand their physical strength,” Issaka told Happy FM.

“I strongly believe the Black Starlets can go all the way by God’s grace and edge out the Malians in quarter-final and progress further to lift the trophy. They can achieve that feat and it is possible if they correct the few mistakes they made in the previous games because they have enough quality," he added.

Goal understands that the Black Starlets, who are without any injury worries and suspensions, arrived at the match venue on Wednesday and will be holding their first training session on Thursday.

Issaka was part of the Black Starlets squad that defeated Brazil in the final to lift the 1995 edition held in Ecuador.
