ISL vs I-League: Bengaluru FC, East Bengal play out a 1-1 draw in pre-season friendly

I-League side East Bengal were held to a 1-1 draw by Indian Super League (ISL) outfit Bengaluru FC in a pre-season friendly match in Bengaluru, on Wednesday. Surabuddin Mullick scored the opening goal for the visitors while Miku netted a late equaliser for the Blues.

Both Khalid Jamil and Albert Roca fielded all Indian starting XIs with the overseas players coming into the action later in the match. Cavin Lobo found a spot in Jamil’s starting XI after a long time and Indian striker duo VP Suhair and Joby Justin started upfront. Interestingly, the match was divided into three halves each of 30 minutes.

New recruit Charles D’Souza who joined the Red and Golds from Chennai City FC this season made his East Bengal coming on as a substitute in the latter stage. He came close to score on couple of occasions but failed to register his maiden goal for the club.

Surabuddin handed East Bengal the lead in the 9th minute while Venezuelan forward Miku equalised at the 80th minute for Bengaluru FC to restore parity in the match.

The I-League outfit will be playing another friendly game against Bengaluru FC on October 27th before travelling to Pune and Goa to play two more friendly matches against ISL sides FC Pune City and FC Goa on October 30th and November 3rd respectively.
