ISL 2017-18: Sergio Lobera - Ferran Corominas one of the best players I've worked with

FC Goa arrived in Guwahati on Friday after the 1-1 draw at ATK in the delayed Indian Super League (ISL) game in Kolkata on Wednesday.

Head coach Sergio Lobera relived the excruciating ordeal, "There were two changes in the schedule actually. We were supposed to play the game on 31st. We had to play under a very complicated situation in Kolkata. We waited for 48 hours to get a flight."

"We reached the stadium directly from the airport and warmed up in our travel gear. So it was a bit difficult for us, but ultimately we will respect the decisions taken by the league. Obviously, it will affect the game (against NorthEast United). Having played two games in a week it will affect not only this one but also the game on 11th", said Lobera.

On a positive aspect to the dire tribulations the team has gone through, striker Ferran Corominas now leads the goalscoring charts with nine scalps to his name. There was only praise for the former Espanyol man, who incidentally was celebrating his 34th birthday.

"Firstly I want to wish him a happy birthday. Obviously, he is a very good player. He is a player of quality. He is one of the best players I have ever worked with. But again it is not about any individual but it is about the team. The team is the one that will get us the results."

Lobera did not want to criticise his defenders for letting in cheap goals but conceded there is room for improvement. "I don't think it's fair to assess a team on their defence or attack. When we score goals, we score as a team, when we concede, we concede as a team."

"We are a team who are very attacking. We have scored so many goals and created chances. But we have to maintain a balance. The balance between attack and defence is very important. We need to improve defensively", he said.

"Obviously, the good thing about this league is that all the teams are very well balanced. All teams are equal. NorthEast United FC obviously had a change in management so their approach will change tomorrow. For us, we want three points from tomorrow's match and keep going game by game", he concluded.
