Luciano Spalletti takes a look at the 29-year-old's maiden game for his new club

Inter Milan manager Luciano Spalletti has commendation for new signing Kwadwo Asamoah who made his debut for the club on Saturday.

The Ghana international, having joined the Nerazzurri on a three-year deal from Juventus, made his bow in the 3-0 triumph over Swiss side Lugano.

His moment came in the 46th minute when he came on for Dalbert, with the score at 1-0.

“The new players did well. Lautaro [Martinez] immediately showed his physical strength and ability to receive the ball with his back to goal. He knows where the goal is, he can sense it,” Spalletti told reporters.

“He can certainly play alongside Mauro Icardi and we’ll see them together in a little while, but first we must cover the other areas of the pitch and be a solid team behind them.

“Kwadwo Asamoah brought his experience, Stefan de Vrij did well in a four-man defence too and [Radja] Nainggolan has characteristics we were missing until now. He is aggressive, leads the pressing and sparks counter-attacks."

Inter are hoping that the recruitment of Asamoah and the likes bolsters the team ahead of their return to the Champions League

“I got the feeling from speaking to transfer specialists this summer that Inter have more appeal now we are back in the Champions League," Spalletti added.

“There is a tangible sense of Inter being an important side, we have thousands of people who chose us to defend their love for these colours and we have to show them they chose well.”

Asamoah could make his second Inter appearance in Wednesday's encounter with Sion.
