An entertaining games ended all square

Melbourne Victory found a way to overcome injuries and hold Wellington Phoenix to a 1-1 draw at AAMI Park.

With Keisuke Honda again rested through injury, Victory defender Nick Ansell succumbed to a hamstring issue just 12 minutes into the match as Kevin Muscat was forced to reshuffle his side.

Riding high after three straight wins, Wellington dominated much of a first-half which didn't see either side carve out any clear-cut goal scoring chances.

The Nix would grab a deserved lead in the 62nd minute as David Williams curled in a delightful opener from the top of the box.

Victory's hopes of an equaliser took a blow just three minutes later with James Troisi eventually succumbing to a knock he took prior to Wellington's goal.

Swedish striker Ola Toivonen would pull Muscat's men level however as he tapped home from close range following a Terry Antonis pass in the 77th minute.

A high intensity affair ending all square with Phoenix's winning run ended but not without Mark Rudan's side asking plenty of questions of a Victory team that's dropped four points over their past two games.
